Mumbai: BMC floats tender for developing software for its parking interface

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a tender for the appointment of a system integrator to create a software and mobile application for the Mumbai Parking Interface (MPI) of the proposed Mumbai Parking Authority.

The software will be a comprehensive system that digitizes and consolidates all parking spaces, both existing and planned, on the streets and off the streets. This will include parking lots from government agencies, commercial entities, and private organizations, which will all be part of the Mumbai parking network. Motorists will be able to pre-book parking spaces at various locations through this system.

The BMC’s parking management solution will also facilitate digital payments, allowing vehicle owners to save on time and fuel by avoiding queues at entry and exit points of parking lots. The payment process will be linked to the vehicle’s registration number and will also have integration with the Fasttag system.

The BMC’s Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects), P Velrasu, stated that this development will be a game-changer as the public will have access to information about all available parking lots in Mumbai 24×7 through their mobile phones and other devices. Additionally, online payments can be made easily without much human interaction. Initially, the system will cover only off-street parking, including public parking lots (PPL) at 32 locations and amenity parking lots at 29 locations.
